I am new to WordPress in general and am looking at using your plugin to organise some documents for an inherited site that I am looking after. So far so good except that I would like to the documents to appear in a similar layout to your screenshot sample. Where there appears to be multiple lines of Titles grouping the documents. I understand that each file has a description which you are rendering but I am not sure how you are grouping the sets of documents as per your screenshot. In my case I have Minutes of Meetings held each Month plus an Annual General meeting. So I was thinking of having some type of grouping based on YEAR and then each of the months (being each document) beneath that and since extra documents will be added each month I wanted to it to be dynamic which would preclude using IDs. As I want to make this as automated as possible for someone other than me.

Finaly where does the phrase “Published from xxxx section on date” come from ? Again this is in your screenshot. Is that a result of using IDs and DG collecting documents from outside the existing page?

    Thanks in advance
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,

Answering the last part first, the “Published from…” is the description for that attachment. By enabling the descriptions attribute, those are rendered alongside each attachment.

For the first part of your question, I would recommend using custom taxonomies to handle this. If you have a taxon for each year and assign your attachments to that taxon, then order by date published then you should get the behavior that you are after. The custom taxonomy support is described on the Installation tab.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!
