How use theme's function into plugin's file

    Hello,
    I am building a plugin to attach with my theme, I have some functions defined in functions.php and I have to use those functions in my plugins files, but when I call them in plugins files, it gives fatal error and says Undefined Functions, please guide me what is going wrong and how to resolve it.
