Hi, I am looking forward using your plugin. However I am unable to find out how to use the custom templates. I followed your instructions at https://iuliacazan.ro/latest-post-shortcode-7/.

However the hook lps_filter_use_custom_tile_markup does not trigger.

Am I correct to use the following shortcode to activate the template?

    [latest-selected-content display="_custom_my_tile_1" limit="2" type="post"]

Well after some digging I found that I had to used elements=”ID” to get the custom templates to work.

I would have found out earlier if the shortcode button would be displayed in my post editor. Could you please help find out why the button to generate shortcodes is not showing?

    Hello,

What plugin version are you using, is it 8.0 or 7.x? Do you have Gutenberg enabled? I am asking because if you are using a combination of Gutenberg and a version of my plugin that is not 8.x, the hooks used for the button do not exist anymore (Gutenberg is removing these).
Perhaps you could send me some screenshots of how the admin page looks like.

Hi Lulia, I am using Gutenberg 3.1 and Latest Post Shortcode 8.0.

    Thanks for your support!

I was looking at the screenshot you sent and from what I understand, Gutenberg is not enabled. Please see how the page looks like when you are editing the page with Gutenberg, the whole layout and the components are different

Which WordPress core version are you using?

I was also thinking that there might be an error in the code you added to the theme, and perhaps that’s why the plugin does not show up.

Maybe the example from https://iuliacazan.ro/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/sample-one-custom-template.txt could help more to identify what is going on.

I looked in the code and found that the image is not included in the plugin package:

    https://../wp-content/plugins/latest-post-shortcode/assets/js/lps-button-icon-white.png

Also the following two images are not included in the plugin download:

    https://../wp-content/plugins/latest-post-shortcode/assets/images/type-grid.jpg

    https://../wp-content/plugins/latest-post-shortcode/assets/images/type-slider.jpg

PS: The reason I show the classic editor instead of the Gutenberg editor is because I assumed the button should be added to the classic editor at the least ;).

It is added, but it just does not show because the image is not found (not included in the plugin files).

Yes, you are right, the assets did not push to WP repo when I built the release. That was probably the issue. I made an update, please get 8.1, that should contain all the missing files. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for letting me know that something was not functioning right.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
