• Basically, I want to know what they did, so I can do it! http://www.cartoonistgroup.com/subject/702/The-Horse-Comics-and-Cartoons.php

They are using tags in each cartoon to change the title in the titlebar, which is making them rank way higher in Google, of course. For the cartoons tagged horse, it is changing the actual title of the page and also in the title bar to put that tag first, making it look like an entire site about horses. They also AUTOMATICALLY add the words, Comics & cartoons to each tag. Have no idea how to do that.

I can’t tell if their site is WP, but I think it is. They are outranking me in cartoons even though I have All in One SEO and I actually specialize in cartoons they don’t have.

Is this a plugin that I don’t know about? Can anyone suggest a place to start? Thanks!

  • Do you mean meta tags? Anyways I’ll recommend you to use Yoast. It’s the most comprehensive SEO plugin.

Their website is not WordPress, it’s just plain old html and they use tables. I’m guessing that they outrank you simply because they’ve been online longer. — I’m only guessing here because no one uses tables and font tags anymore.

Google does give higher ranking to sites that have been online longer.

The all in one seo plugin is good. I’ve recently made the switch to Yoast WordPress SEO plugin, just because its easier for clients to visually see what the title and meta tags will look like. You might want to give it a go and just optimize a few pages at a time and see how it goes.
