  • I’ve read this somewhere and searched, but couldn’t find the original post – how can I use my live database as the database for my testblog?

    Is there a good way to do this? Maybe copy the database and use the copy?

    Thanks in advance 🙂

  • If you are comfortable using PHPmyadmin, you can use the tutorials from podz’s site to backup and restore the database instructions to export your existing database, and import it into the new test blog

    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/ under PHPMYADMIN, first column

    To put more than one blog into a database, you need to change the table_prefix in wp-config.php

    In your existing blog (the real one) it will have something like
    table_prefix = “wp_”

    If you want to make a test blog to live in the same database, make it
    table_prefix = “test_”
    and then install the test blog.

    That help ?

    Thats what I was looking for! Thanks to both of you 🙂
