• So I just installed a new wordpress blog and want to upload my FOLDER that I downloaded from my last host. This folder contains all the files from my former wordpress blog. I just am switching over to a different host.

I get to this screen (see below) but it only lets me upload a file, not a whole folder. There are hundreds of files within this folder! How can I do it so I can just upload the folder?

    Import WordPress

Howdy! Upload your WordPress eXtended RSS (WXR) file and we’ll import the posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags into this site.

Choose a WordPress WXR file to upload, then click Upload file and import.

Choose a file from your computer: (Maximum size: 8MB)

  • A folder of files from your old host won’t be of any use. WordPress uses a database to store your site’;s content. So you need either a backup copy of your old site’s database or an export file from your old site.
