• I have a wordpress blog installed in the sub directory of a domain. I am facing some problem it it lately, so I want to upload fresh installation of wordpress on this blog keeping all the content of my blog safe.

Is there a way of doing that? Can someone please tell me the exact steps I need to take to replace my current files of wordpress with new ones and keeping all my content of blog safe?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • The content of your blog would all be in the database, and therefore safe, and available to the new version of wp. If you have made any changes to files in wp these will be lost when the files are replaced by the new ones.

Thanks for your kind reply Carmeljune.

So this means that I can just take the backup of database and then upload new files through FTP which replaces old ones. Am I right or these is something I am missing?

    Thanks for helping!

    How’s it going aldorun?
Simply uploading files, such as new versions of wp, should connect to the database seamlessly … without a hitch.
