How to update wordPress

    Hi,

    I just created my first theme locally using MAMP and then uploaded it to my server but now I’m wondering how or what would be the proper way to update my site.

    Do I work on my live site and than update the one in my computer or do I work locally and than update the one in my server?

    How you guys do it? Can you guys share the method you guys use?

    Work on the live site. You can preview your posts/pages before publishing.

    There is usually no need to update the site on your computer as local wordpress installs are usually just used for development.

    If you wish to keep a backup you can always download an .xml file of your content from your site

    I guess I was referring more about theme changes like new templates, plug-in and stuff that changes the functionality of the site.
