How To Upgrade My Old Version WordPress?

  • I am new to using WordPress. I have a site using WordPress them NEWS. I noticed that my WordPress is the older version. Will I start from scratch if I upgrade to new version? Will it delete all the plug ins, posts, info, etc. that I applied before? I saw a link that says UPGRADE TO NEW VERSION and before that they advise me to BACK UP FILES SITE first. I am not sure if I have to back up or not before upgrading to new version since I don’t know how to back up. Will this be a problem if I don’t back up and just go ahead to upgrade? It is just a click away to upgrade. What is the result if I don’t?
I will appreciate your advise. Thanks a lot!

No – especially not if you are using WordPress 3.2. You can just use the 1-click upgrade option. But please remember to deactivate all plugins, switch to the default theme and backup your database before proceeding with the upgrade.
