  • Just deactivate it! if you are left with stuff in the .htaccess file, just delete it, enter the wordpress addmin, go to permalinks, and hit save to re-generate the htacess.

Warning: Missing argument 1 for W3_AdminEnvironment::fix_after_deactivation(), called in /home/****/public_html/*****.cheap/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/inc/functions/activation.php on line 754 and defined in /home/****/public_html/****.cheap/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/AdminEnvironment.php on line 64

Warning: array_merge(): Argument #2 is not an array in /home/****/public_html/****.cheap/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/Plugin/TotalCacheAdmin.php on line 762

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/****/public_html/****.cheap/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

Those are the errors I get, sometimes it apears to be deactivated, disabled, deleted.. but after refresh it is back. Or it is not there but traces of it are still around showing errors and login issues. And I’ve gone through the steps in the above article, this damn plugin never goes away.

You can uninstall manually W3 Total Cache by following these instructions.

Missing Argument 1 is for running Query against stuff which is not present. It is for partially deleted WordPress plugin. Manual removal needs few steps on Apache2 as indicated by Willie. Else you can get hacked by a script kiddie.

Your setup is conflicting. Read guide from official list for running W3TC properly on different kind of setups –
You can take Frederick Townes’s (plugin developer) help to run it.

When page speed went 2s to 24s, it can indicate that there is no timeout set for PHP execution or some module missing. You should debug your setup.

Create a subdomain named like with exact setup like the production site but disallow the search engines to crawl. In future, test plugin or theme first there.
