Support » Plugin: Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth » How to turn off upsells in the backend?

    Dear Jetpack team,

I highly appreciate your efforts at Automattic. But, how can I turn off the constant banners from Jetpack prompting me to try out a module or upgrade?

For a creator with an attention span bordering on ADHD, this is highly distracting and counter productive.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

    Hello there, Nicole.

There is no current way to opt-out of the information banners as a whole, but once you dismiss them, those alerts should not come back.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Hello @madhattersez ,

First of all, thank you so much for your excellent work on all WordPress components. After years of experience with 3rd party “premium” themes and plugins, I am now working almost exclusively with Automattic compontents in WordPress: Core, Sensei, WooCommerce, bbpress, Jetpack, Akismet, and Twenty Twenty One Theme out of the box. It’s robustly coded and it just works.

Regarding the upgrade, it is unfortunate that you have discontinued the 5-site plan. I have said this before and take this occasion to say it again: please think of us European customers. We have multilingual sites. I currently have 2 European languages, but I have already curated up to 5 languages. And due to the WordPress infrastructure, the most robust way to do this is one installation per language, no multilanguage plugins, no wordpress network. By discontinuing the 5-site plans, upgrading to a paid plan may become an expensive endeavor that the project does not yet support. So, I’d like to ask you to reconsider this decision and reinstall the 5-site plans in Jetpack and WooCommerce.

Regarding the banner, I have already clicked away several of them, and some also multiple times. That’s because rigth now I have only about 1/4 of the modules activated. So, I am prompted to activate modules I know I don’t need right now.

    Best,
    Nicole

    Hi @nmschaller

You are correct about multisite. At this time, the best way to use Jetpack is to purchase one plan per site.

Have you cleared cookies and/or reset your browser cache? That may cause the prompts to reappear.

    Hi @bobmatyas ,

No, I haven’t. I’m trying to not see them now.

Please don’t misunderstand me. I clearly see value in Jetpack plans for the backup and video streaming and want to book that when the project grows.

    Best,
    Nicole

    Nicole,

I must apologize – I wasn’t fully aware that different alerts have a different set amount of time before they come back (if they are set to come back after being dismissed) until I talked with one of our developers.

In other words, different alerts may or may not come back after you dismiss them.

If they get to be too much of a hassle for you, we do have a filter you can add to disable all of our feature advertising alerts. In order to do so, you would need a plugin such as Code Snippets:

    https://jetpack.com/support/adding-code-snippets/

The filter / snippet you would add to remove our messages is:

    add_filter( 'jetpack_just_in_time_msgs', '__return_false', 99 );

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Sure thing! Sorry I lacked so many details in my original response. 😅

Have a safe rest of the week.
