• I’m very new to this. My parent theme does not have all the widgets I would like to use. It has very few, actually.

From what I was reading, it sounded like you could install a plugin and activate it and it would then appear in the widgets menu.

I am trying to get a subscribe via email widget thing going on my site. I am overwhelmed at the options that you get when you search for a plug in like this and I don’t know what to use.

If you look at my willtravel4hugs.wordpress.com site I was originally starting, you’ll see a “subscribe via email” box at the bottom. That’s all I want. Or I would be okay with it being a page too/instead.

    current site: http://www.willtravel4hugs.com

I am also trying to get a share button on my site where you can share individual posts or share my entire blog.. I downloaded and installed the “social share toolkit” by marikjn rongen, but it is overwhelming me with the social button options (and from what it looks like to me, it only lets you share the blog, rather than appearing at the bottom of posts?)

thanks. I really wish I could afford to just pay something to set this up exactly how I want it. what a process it has been!

    Update:

I was able to use this plugin and get the share buttons to appear at the bottom of my posts. but even though I have “page” and “posts” selected, I still can’t get the buttons to appear on my page. the widget title “share” appears, but no buttons to click underneath

For help with a specific plugin, you need to post on that plugin’s forum – from the plugin’s page, click on the support tab and scroll down to make a post on that sub-forum – that way the developer will see it.

The subscribe by email is part of JetPack – do you have that set up? JetPack also has sharing, so you may want to just stick with that.

Oh. I do have jetpack. I didn’t know this had these options. I’ll go tinker and post back in the appropriate forum if I don’t figure out it. Thanks!
