On the surface, it would appear that since you can add a tag that you could start a campaign based on that tag. However, this does not seem to work. Trying to figure out if I just don’t have it set up right, if it’s broken, or is simply won’t work.
The behavior I am seeing seems to be on the first submission for a form for a given email it creates the contact and the tag, but that does NOT trigger the campaign for some reason. If I do a second form submission from the same email address, it adds the tag and it does trigger the campaign. Seems like only adding a tag to an existing contact triggers, but when the contact is created with the tag IS doesn’t recignize the action of applying a tag.
On the Infusionsoft developer site I found that this is coming in the winter release:
Is there a solution in the works? Just being able to stuff a contact into the database isn’t particularly useful if I can’t launch the necessary marketing automation.
Can the API Tx for adding the tag be a separate (subsequent) step from the tx to add the contact? Perhaps that would fix the issue?
