How to trigger a popup window from the button shortcode?

    I have created a popup window with the Popup Builder plugin. I want this popup window to appear upon clicking on the button defined with the button shortcode.
    I tried the onclick and the class parameters, but it is not working. Instead it links to my homepage, although I skipped the url parameter.

    The support team from Popup Builder referred me to this supportpage on css: https://sygnoos.ladesk.com/627886-How-to-trigger-an-Onclick-popup-via-CSS-class, but I can’t figure out how to get the button shortcode to activate this popup window.

    Please help.
