    Hi,
I’m having a ridiculously hard time trying to figure out how to contribute with a translation. On the Gantry 5 translation page for my language (Brazilian portuguese), I THINK there are only sets for back end (“Stable” is really not very intuitive – shouldn’t it include front end as well?). The most important for me was translating the front end, so I did it with Poedit – here are the files.
    .
A side note: it only worked when I renamed the files without the name, leaving only the country code (“pt_BR.po” instead of “g5_hydrogen-pt_BR.po”).
    .
Sorry if this is the wrong place for such a question. Could someone point me to the right direction?

    Hi,

Yes, for the front end, you need to translate the .pot file and save it in the same directory with a filename that is only a language country code so pt_BR.po and pt_BR.mo

With which things you exactly need help?

    Thanks,
    Jakub

Well, I just wanted to make it available for the Hydrogen theme, so that if anyone is interested, has the option to use it in other language. No easy way to do it?

Well it would be fine to use WP.org online tools, but unfortunately we aren’t able to put our themes into the WP.org theme repository as they can’t meet the theme directory requirements. One of the requirements is ie. that theme needs to be standalone and mustn’t require any separate plugins to make it work (Gantry 5 plugin in our case).

    Sorry about that.

Ok, got it. Actually, that was clarifying for me, as I did not understand why Gantry themes were not listed in WP.org.
Pity, but ok. I just regret this topic title – had I made it something like “Gantry 5 Hydrogen in brazilian portuguese”, other people could find it. Is it possible to change it?

I think that only moderators can modify it.

    Hi.

I have the same issue and reading the above comments I read “[…] for the front end, you need to translate the .pot file and save it in the same directory […]”
Which directory are you talking about? Is the general /wp-content/languages/ directory?
Is not possible to add translation files for the single theme in the Hydrogen theme folder?
I don’t like to overwrite the wordpress translation .po and .mo files because of some other problems…

I never mentioned WP core translations. The Hydrogen (or Helium) theme translations reside in theme directory/languages/ and this is the location I was talking about.

Hey chattago2002, just to make it clear – I’ve sent the language files to the following directory:

    /themes/my-child-theme/languages/

And these files must be named only your language code, underline, your country code. Thus, in my case: pt_BR.mo and pt_BR.po
