Support » Plugin: Polylang » How to translate articles ( like “the” or “a” ) in italian

  • Hi,

just wanted to understand what’s the best way to translate some strings into italian. The issue is that the english phrase: “Discover more on %s” can be translated “Scopri di più sulla %s”, “Scopri di più sul %s”, “Scopri di più sull’%s” o “Scopri di più sullo %s” depending on what word is substituted to %s! How should I fix this?

    Hi,

This is classic question that translators must ask themselves when translating from English which is gender neutral. Generally you should look where the string is displayed to do “in context” translation. Unfortunately, it happens that there is no perfect translation. Fortunately there is a work in progress to accept genders in WordPress translations. See : https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/42725
