How to transfer my Stats from one site to another

    Hi

    My site got hacked a few weeks back and as such I was advised to create a new one and then direct the old domain to the new site. I have been working on the new site (editing and uploading everything). I was however wondering before we put it live if I could transfer my stats from the old site to the new site. If this is at all possible how do I go about the import / export process. And which exact tables are needed in order to import my old website’s statistics to the new one.

    I am not the best at IT but hopefully you will be able to help (if it is at all possible).

    If you have trasnfered your old data across exactly, then you can also move the WP Statistics tables across as well (any table that begins with wp_statistics_ assuming you haven’t changed your wp table prefix).

    However if you are recreating the content with new page/post id’s there’s not much point in moving the statistics data over.

    If you just want the total visit/visitors to display the totals from the old site you can use the Statistics->Optimization->Historical settings to accomplish that.

    Moving the stats between blogs is challenging and technically complex, well beyond the scope of support we can provide here.

    Hi thanks for getting back to me.

    So the new site has the exactly the same content as the old one. I exported and then imported it to the new site. So do I need to the go to Statistics->Optimization->Export and then export the files one by one. Which export file do you most recommend. Then how do I go about importing it into the new site – as I can’t see how I do this.

    You have to use an external tool like phpMyAdmin to do the export/import, your hosting provider probably provides it for you in your control panel.
