Support » Plugin: GD Rating System » How to test ratings from different users?

    Hi,

I have this plugin installed on my localhost. I’m trying to test the voting on multiple posts (all are the same custom post type), but even when I’m logged in with different users, it keeps recalculating the same single vote and only ever shows 1 vote. It seems to thinks I’m the same user.

What I want is different logged in users to be able to vote on the same ratings object, even if using the same IP. Is this possible?

    Thanks

You have options to control IP validation in the plugin Global settings.

    Found it. Thanks.

I can see the plugin works on multisite (which is what I’m using). The plugin is installed on the main site of my network and I want all users across the network to be able to vote on posts in the main site, but this doesn’t seem to be working. Is this a limitation? Does the plugin only work on individual blogs in the network?

WordPress doesn’t have a direct way for one site to access another in the network, they are essentially separate sites. Plugin can work with each site in the network (you can activate it for each site), but it is not possible for site B to vote for posts in site A. Main site in the network is still a site.

WordPress has functions to switch across sites for database access purposes, but if you need more, you need to write your own handling code.

In theory, you can write handling code for all that, but plugin doesn’t support that by default, it works for individual sites in the network only.

Thanks for the explanation Milan. I think I assumed it would be possible because the users are stored in the same db, but I guess not.

Thanks anyway. This is the only missing feature for my requirements on this project. Otherwise the plugin is fantastic!

The problem is not with the users, but the content you vote for. The main site is just a site, other sites can’t access it directly. So, you can’t simply reference post from one site to be displayed on another.
