    Hi.
I loaded your plugin to one of my smaller sites for testing. When I use your test tab and type in the v word I can see it rejects it, but when I tried sending a message from my contact form, the message came through anyway.

Is it because I was logged in to my site as admin at the time? Do I need to try from a different computer?

    Thank you!

If you are logged in, it ignores you.

If you look at the log you might see spammers getting rejected. Of course this would not work on an unknown site, it would have to be a site that gets spam.

I tried sending another email with the V word from my phone, not logged in, and it still came through. Plus I just got a real spam email from my contact form. Just seems like ti is not enabled or something. Nothing ever shows up in the log file.

One way to test is to log off the site. Then you can try register using an email of test@1ce.us, and this should reject.

As far as sending an email, I am not sure what you are doing. What contact form are you using?

Email me the URL of your site and I will try to test it. If the contact form is non-standard, the software will ignore it. If the contact form is using standard field names then I can see if the software rejects it.

    I’m using contact 7.

    Thanks!

Contact 7 uses it’s own field names. Astounding spam is careful about interfering with other plugins and only uses the standard WordPress field names. It is good for logins and standard comments, but it can’t handle the Contact 7 field names.

Interesting. I really appreciate the information.

Do you recommend a different Contact plugin?

Astounding spam is the simplified and low memory version of “Stop Spammers” plugin. Try that and see if it finds the spam. The “Stop Spammers is missing a few features from Astounding, but has a slightly different approach and may search all fields for bad email. Try it.

    I’ll give that a shot.

Thanks again for all your help.
