Support » Themes and Templates » How to switch back from static blog post to recent posts in menu bar?

  • I have a static front page for my site and I also have my blog link in my menu bar set to a static blog post page.

I originally wanted people to see the same post when they clicked on my blog link in the menu bar.

I would like to switch the link back so it links to recent posts again.

I have tried everything, including deleting the blog page altogether and starting over fresh with a brand new blog page in the menu bar but the link /blog keeps going back to that static post.

Does anyone have an easy fix? I’m not tech savvy and cannot remember how I set the blog to the static page in first place.

My website is here in case this is of help.

I really appreciate any solutions or guidance on this.

    Thank you, tsuzan.

No, I would like to keep my static home page as is.

However, I’d like to change the blog navigation in the menu bar, so when people click on Blog, it will navigate them to the most recent posts instead of the static page you pasted above, which is where the Blog link takes people now.

I tried deleting the blog link altogether and starting fresh, but when I recreated it, it still takes people to that static blog post.

Do you know of a fix for this?

    Hello @raw
U mean when u click on blog it should display all ur blog post yeah.
But now it is redirecting to http://www.rawsynergy.com/parasites/ instead of http://www.rawsynergy.com/blog/
    I think u wanan display this http://www.rawsynergy.com/category/uncategorized/
when u click on blog yeah ,for this go to dashboard>appearance>menu>edit the blog ,there is url section insert http://www.rawsynergy.com/category/uncategorized/ then ur all blog post will be displayed .hope this work

    Thanks

Yes, that’s exactly my intention, tsuzan.

I followed your directions and when I added that url to the blog menu url section and click on that exact link you gave me after saving it in the menu, it still takes me to the parasites page. However, when I click on it above where you posted, or if I just paste that link in my browser, it takes me to the correct location.

    How strange is that?!

I think the blog is designated somewhere else, maybe in code, to go to that static post but I can’t figure out where to change the designation.

Is there another location to change the designation of where “blog” directs?

I really appreciate your help on this.

    Hi tsuzan,
    Thank you for your reply.
What should I change the default post category to in step 1?
And, in step 2, what changes do I make in permalinks before I click save?
Thanks so much for your help!

P.S. Settings were set to uncategorized under default post

    Hi @ raw

It is set to uncategorized that’s why it is not showing your all post ,set it to blog.

2.Just click save on permalinks no need to set anything

    Thanks

    Hi tsuzan,

I really appreciate you sticking this out with me.

Under Default Post Category my only options are:
    Getting Started
    Inspiration
    Recipes
    & Uncategorized
So I think that’s why I had it set on Uncategorized because otherwise it goes to a specific category and I want it to just go to the most recent blog posts.

The Default Link Category is set to blogroll which is the only option available.

I thought I might be able to create a category for recent blog posts but I don’t see a way to input a specific link for that.

Do you have any other recommendations?

    Thank you!

    Hi @raw

Please so me the screenshot seen while chossing the default post category?

    Thanks
