How to suppress Gallery functionality

    I have limited space on my hosting provider. I use my blog as a means for about 100 family members to post entries and share pictures. I usually move uploaded photos to flickr and redirect the image source link, but this new Gallery feature threatens to undermine this from what I can tell so far.

    1) how can I redirect the links to the photos contained in a post-embedded gallery? Currently if I edit such a post I only see the [gallery] tag.

    2) if it isn’t possible to do this, how can I suppress the gallery functionality altogether?
