I just installed this plugin on a client site. The login form is pretty much unusable, as everything is smooshed over to the left. I don’t know if this is due to some inherited styles.

Where do I start to properly style the plugin views, since there is no style option that I can see in the dashboard? Should I just go ahead and use the stylesheets in the plugin’s css folder? And won’t these styles get overwritten upon a plugin update?

Hi, I am sure this is a theme styling issue. Can you test one of WordPress default themes like Twenty Fourteen? Just to see what happens.

I corrected the main styling problem, but I am still interested in styling the pages. I thought there might be some kind of best practice for this, or maybe selecting a theme like you can do in store locator plus, but it looks like a matter of customizing the swpm.common.css.

Hi, yes that is correct. Unfortunately at the present you will have to customize the swpm.common.css.

However I would suggest you use a plugin or if your theme permits, to add the custom styles. This will prevent you from loosing your custom styles every time you update the plugin.
