On my blog, there is no need for anyone to become a user. Everything there can be read by a guest. Comments are handled by Disqus. But every once in a while, I’lkl get 20-50 new user accounts created. These don’t seem like real accounts. I’ve added a Captcha hoping that would interfere with bot created logins, but they continue.

Maybe it doesn’t matter, and they are benign, but I’m wondering if this is something to be concerned about or not. and if so, is it possible to change a setting so that users can not create accounts?

  • Please check this setting:

    Admin Dashboard>Settings>General>Anyone can register

Is it checked? If so, un-check it and make sure to save the setting.

Then just delete those rogue users.

Thanks. I should have seen that on my own. Really appreciate your help.
