• Hi Andrew,

I was wondering if you’d be able to help. I am having an issue with wordpress removing my empty link <a> tags.

Basically, I an trying to embed the Pinterest Pins in wordpress post using their widget builder. It probably works in widgets as the name suggests, but they mention that it also works in posts. Well it doesn’t, because the output from the Pinterest builder is an empty <a></a> tag which is removed by wordpress by default.

So after hours of searching ( and I really don’t understand that nobody pointed this out any earlier, I just can’t find any solution online ), I got to your plugin ( which by the way is excellent ) for adding proper html into wordpress post. But still doesn’t solve my problem of wordpress removing my empty link.

Is there a way to do this with your plugin ?

Yeah, TinyMCE always removes empty <a> tags. Not sure if that can be disabled. These used to be invalid in XHTML 1 I think. The only way I see around it is to replace the <a></a> with a placeholder, similarly to how WP handles the <!--more--> tag.
