how to stop spam pings and trackbacks?

    Hi everybody,

    I noticed spammers are bypassing comment email notification.

    I have reading forum for couple of days about this issues.

    What I gather is that I am getting pingbacks or trackbacks

    Honestly, I have no clue what these two terms (pingbacks or trackbacks) means!

    How to stop spam pings and trackbacks cold without plugins? Is possible without plugins (plugins are often not uptodate with the WP version).

    If yes, How?

    please guide since I am new to wp. Also, i am neither a web dev or a coder. Thanks. tara

    I’ve been using akismet plugin to filter spam emails like this.

    Hi jasaritin,

    I really appreciate you taking time to help me out.

    I looked into Akismet. The reason I did not activate it was the KEY for which need to open another account, give my email and agree to recieve emails from wordprwss.com

    Is there something else available which does not require signup like that?

    Akismet is the best anti-spam plugin availiable for wordpress… i have been using it on my website… It is really great…
