How to stop screen from splitting in two?

    When I choose to EDIT a post in WordPress suddenly the screen splits into three different sections. I did not change anything in preferences to have this happen.

    How can I revert it back to the old way of just a single EDIT page showing up, instead of all the layers, etc?

    Have you tried:
    -deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    -switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
