Hello, I migrated my site to a new server and changed the IP address. Everything is working fine, but I am receiving many pingback alerts, and they are from my own interlinks. I see the new server’s IP address. Is there a way to stop these alerts? Also, if I just click the ‘trash’ button on the alerts, will everything stay the same with the links?

  • Since you’ve migrated to a new server, WordPress is detecting your internal links as if they’re coming from an external source due to the IP change.

Moving the pingbacks to trash is a safe option and won’t affect your internal links – they will continue to work normally.

If you want to entirely stop the pingbacks, you can disable them from wp-admin > Settings > Discussion. There, you can uncheck the “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles” box and click on “Save Changes.”

There is a plugin that disables WordPress from sending pings from your own site to your own site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/no-self-ping/

@linaasenova Thank you for the information. I’ve already activated the option, but I’m still receiving the pingbacks. Do you have any other suggestions to stop them?

@benniledl Thank you. It is safe for SEO?

Since it’s only to stop internal pingbacks, yes it should be safe for seo
