How to sort portfolio posts

Hi! I’m wondering if there’s a way to sort the portfolio posts once they are made. For example, I have already created quite a few portfolio posts. But now looking back, I want them to appear in a different order. I was sort of able to achieve this by editing the date that it was posted, but then the “next” and “back” buttons still use the original ordering of the posts which gets really confusing.
