[Resolved] How to show an excerpt of the originating article when use trackbacks??

  • When you “trackback” an article from someone’s blog, how do you show an excerpt of that article in your own post?? so confused, thanks a million.

    @markjaquith

    The software sending the trackback should provide the excerpt. If you Trackback another blog, WordPress will grab an excerpt from your post. If somone else sends you a Trackback, their software will excerpt their post.

    Pingback is different. With Pingback, the software receiving the ping does the work, by looking for the link on the other site and grabbing the surrounding text.

    Thanks a lot, mark.

    In my case, actually both are wordpress blogs. But my post (which i wrote concerning an article on another wordpress blog) only shows my own text, no excerpt from the originating blog… kinda confused, please help!!

    btw, my blog is @ http://cmpt470.cs.sfu.ca/mx1/techeva/wordpress/

    solved, thanks alot.

    Just a suggestion, but explaining what “solved” included may help the next user as well.

    oh, thanks for the reminding. what i mean “trackback” in my original question was actually the “backquote” feature of wordpress.

    Would you give us more detailed explanation for yours, sfu? I am looking for what you wanted right now, but I couldn’t find it. Please let us know. Thanks.
