• If my inquiry has been answered elsewhere, I apologize for bringing it up again. I wasn’t quite sure what keywords best fit the answer I’m hoping to find.

My question is about searching for the posts within my blog, not searching for my itself, which I have no trouble finding.

I just started a blog named Capital Gourmand on which I review local restaurants. As I’ve mentioned, when I do a Google search for my blog by name, I can find it easily. But when I search for the restaurants I review, they don’t come up. So I tried using the search Capital Gourmand followed by the name of the restaurant (ie, “Capital Gourmand Tail Up Goat”). Instead of getting a result with the name up the restaurant, I get a result with the month the blog was posted followed by the name of my blog (ie, March 2016 – Capital Gourmand).

I want anyone searching for restaurants to find my blog among the search results. I’m not expecting my blog to be the first result they see or even the 30th. But I want it to be an option. Is there something I need to do on my end to make this happen? I would greatly appreciate any input.

    Thanks.

  • Are you using the Yoast SEO plugin and Google Search Console? Yoast helps you specify what to ask Google to index (e.g. you can ask it not to index the month archives, but to index single posts) and Search Console enables you to do the asking. Yoast can also help you optimise your posts to target the restaurant names as search keywords.
