  • Hi @cowdog,

I hope you are well today.

After installing Custom sidebars plugin, in the admin area from the path Admin -> Appearance -> Custom sidebars -> Default Sidebars tab click on “Author archives” text then select the default sidebar that you want to display on the author page template author.php.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I tried that, and it doesn’t work in my theme. My theme uses author.php for its author pages, not the archive.php file. Does that make a difference?

    Hi @cowdog,

I tried that, and it doesn’t work in my theme.

Is it working with other themes like Twenty Twelve theme?

My theme uses author.php for its author pages, not the archive.php file. Does that make a difference?

No it doesn’t make a difference, just make sure the author.php file contains <?php get_sidebar(); ?> code.

I have tested it on my test site and it’s working fine. Make sure you have configured the plugin settings correctly. You can find some simple tutorials on the Custom sidebars plugin web page

Okay, I think I have this figured out. My sidebar has some custom code that takes effect on the author page, and that seems to be conflicting with the ability to use custom sidebar on that page. I’ll have to look at this again another time to see if I can get that resolved.

    Thanks for your help!
