I don’t think that it’s a violation. Here’s an interesting thread that talks about this – http://wordpress.org/support/topic/selling-plugins-directly-from-wordpressorg?replies=9
Thanks for the useful link, so seem to be allowed.
It’s possible to know which license i need to apply on the non-free version of the plugin.
All plugins must be GPLv2 (or later) compatible.
You can sell ’em on your own site, you can even upsell them from wordpress.org provided you’re not crippling the free plugin.
GPL being ‘free’ isn’t about cost, change what you want.
Thanks Ipstenu,
a link to the non-free version is allowed both in the plugin page in wordpress.org and in the back-end of the plugin?
Generally yes. I have to say that because it depends on how it’s linked 🙂 Most of the time, people aren’t doing it to be spammers, and we’re cool with that.
A link with an anchor like:
“Upgrade to [plugin name] Pro”
with the plugin Pro version as destination, both in wordpress.org and in the plugin admin-page in a non-crippled pluging is ok ?
Sorry for my specific questions but i don’t want to break the rules.
Thanks
That should be fine. When you submit your plugin, put a link to this thread in the description field 🙂 then anyone who reviews will know we chatted 😉
That’s fine, i’ll put a link to this thread to all my future submissions.
