 * Hi, can anyone help with some advice on how to scale wordpress.
 * I’m am currently in partnership with a public figure who has just signed up to
   have his own TV programme here in the UK.
 * The estimated viewing figures are expected to be 1.2m per show, of which there
   are 1 per week for 8 weeks.
 * If we said that 5% of viewers went to the website after the show then we would
   receive 50,000 unique visits overnight. (currently running at around 1,000 p/
   month with a bandwidth usage of around 1gb)
 * I understand that as a software solution wordpress is able to handle the volume
   however I wondered if anyone has had experience of putting in the necessary infrastructure
   to support this volume of interest from both a hardware and software configuration
   perspective.
 * Thanks in advance,
    Cheers, Steve

 * It’s not so much WordPress (as there are some pretty big WordPress websites eg,
   CNN).
 * I don’t think it’s a question of WordPress being able to handle the scalability,
   rather the host.
 * It also all depends what the content is likely to be, eg, video streaming, image
   galleries or just mainly text content as all will have different requirements
   for bandwidth.
 * I would talk to the host and clarify the flexibility of running a site and talk
   to them about load balancing and possibly a CDN.

 * Thanks Phil, I’d agree with you about wordpress being able to handle the load.
 * The content is likely to be mainly text and low res graphics. Any video will
   be presented through our youtube channel so should be now impact there.
 * Thanks again,
    Cheers, Steve
