• I don’t want every joe schmo to be able to access my site. Is there a way of creating some sort of “default page” that everyone goes to? If so, how do I secure it to require users to enter a username and password?

  • create a static page in wp that fits the purpose of being the landing page for all visitors

    under options – reading select display a static page and point it to that static page.

    unclick anyone can register on the General options tab.

    install the user levels plugin and set levels on posts and pages accordingly.

    sorry, but I’m a real newb. How do I create a static page? Would I name it index.html?

    go to wp-admin
    click on the write tab
    click on the write page subtab
    add content
    click on publish
    point to this page as your static page to be displayed.
