    Hi,

I did a back up before updating some plugins. The site crashed (during maintenance) and I now cannot get into wp-admin.

I went into cpanel and deleted all my plugins except updraft and this has not helped.

How do I restore the updraft backup from the cpanel?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I waited over 19 hours for a reply, but couldn’t wait any longer. I just deleted everything and started again. Please can someone let me know for next time how to avoid this. Thanks.

    yes, I read this…..

“If you have access to your backed files (i.e. you have the emailed copies, or have obtained the backed up copies directly from Amazon S3, Dropbox, Google Drive, FTP or whatever store you were using), then you simply need to unzip them into the right places”.

I did not back up files to anywhere. I just used updraft and ASSUMED it would save them so they could be accessed from the cpanel (eg it saved it with wordpress. I didnt realise I would have to save them elsewhere.

    Hi,

If you don’t use remote storage, then all backup files will be stored in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of the site.

Um, yes, I realised this. I have no clue WHAT file contains what and what to do with it??

    Hi,

Each file will contain a section of the backup, denoted by the end of the filename, e.g.
    ‘-uploads’, ‘-plugins’, ‘-db’.

To restore manually, you will need to download each backup file, and unzip them on your local machine. This should leave you with the following folders:
‘uploads’, ‘plugins’, ‘themes’, and any miscellaneous folders/files.

These then need to be uploaded to the ‘wp-content’ directory of the site via the cPanel filemanager.

The database backup file can be imported into the database via the phpMyAdmin tool.
