[resolved] How to resmush images that have already been processed. (3 posts)

I had bulk smushed all my images (2000 plus images) and was getting a great score on GoogleSpeed Insight. However, some of the images where very large 1mb and above and where using my bandwidth very fast.

I downloaded all the images and ran them through XnConvert to reduce the large ones to a smaller size, the images have reduced from 1mb to around 100kb each and have saved massive space without losing too much quality.
I have uploaded all of them under the same file name as i converted and replaced the old images.

When I use bulk smush it says

    — [original] 800 x 953: Reduced by 3.6% (2 KB) already smushed
    — [thumbnail] 150 x 150: Reduced by 2.1% (474 B) already smushed
    — [medium] 251 x 300: Reduced by 3.1% (1.1 KB) already smushed

Bulk smush thinks that it has processed the images, because it processed the older large ones. When I do the re-smush one by one they shrink so it is clear they need to be re done.
Google Insights says i need to Losslessly compress the images and gives me a low speed score (even thought the size of the webpages has reduced massively) Is there anyway to bulk smush them all again or do i have to do it one by one?

    Thanks for the help.

  2. Hi @thomaslucas,

Greetings and thanks for posting on the forums.

Unfortunately currently i didn't find any option to bulk re-smush the images other than doing it one by one.

I have notified this to the developer about it and this feature may be added in future version of plugin.

Just ran across this and wanted to post on it but user @ngoodfellow in the following thread provides what seems to maybe be a viable workaround:

    Perhaps that may help?
