How to replace string in post title

WPSP uses the_title() to display the title just like any other post lists.

While we can filter the title and str replace it using this –

But the issue is, it will apply to all occurrences of the title.

You’ll have to modify the plugin if you wish to change the title for the WPSP list only.

I understand. Is there any other possibility to customize WPSP list titles, without affecting the titles of the posts? maybe with custom fields?

You’ll have to remove the hard-coded title from line 438 to 453 on the plugin’s wp-show-posts.php file or hide it with CSS and then insert your custom title if you solely want to work on the WPSP list because the add_filter('the_title')‘s effect is global.

IF we don’t remove these lines, we’ll basically have the default wpsp rendered title (hidden with CSS display:none;) + the custom fields your hooking in which most likely isn’t what you prefer.
