I created my own graphic titles and don’t want a title for the category dropdown menu.

However, it’s forcing a subhead called ‘Category’ and I don’t see how to remove it.

All I want is the dropdown menu.

    How can I do this?

More info: I’m using the QuickPress theme. It doesn’t seem to have a way to modify the style for the widget header which is <h4>.

I want customized graphic headers for each widget. I created a style in the theme style but don’t know if that is the correct place.

I am wondering if the widget CSS needs to be modified which would need to be accessed outside the admin panel and replaced by FTP. Is this right or is there a better way?

Never mind … I found a solution here:

    http://anthologyoi.com/wordpress/displaying-wordpress-categories-in-a-horizontal-dropdown-menu.html

I haven’t tried it yet but it seems perfect.

H’mmm … too bad we can’t edit our posts. I want to update this again for anyone who might care.

I wound up not using the tip from above. Instead, I edited the following file:

    wordpress\wp-includes\default-widgets.php

I removed instances of ‘title’ within the category widget section.

If you want to do that, make sure that you are editing the right widget.

Then I was able to use my own graphic title for the widget.

Note: I didn’t actually remove instances of ‘title’ but blanked them out by putting // before the lines.

This way if I want to reverse to the original version, I can do that by removing the //.

I also saved the original version as a backup, which I recommend.
