I want to modify my subscription to remove the 30 days free trial.

How to do this? From the paypal plan page it does not seem possible to remove it.

From the woocommerce product page, since it synchronized it does not appear anymore.

    Hi @paddletroke

    Thank you for reaching out.

It is not possible to remove the 30-day free trial from your existing subscription because the billing cycle is fixed once the product is connected to PayPal. Subscription modifications like upgrading, downgrading, or changing billing cycles are not supported. The only way to adjust the billing cycle is to unlink the existing subscription plan from the product and create a new subscription plan with the updated settings.

Let me know if you need any assistance with this.

    Kind Regards,

    Krystian

    Thanks for your reply.

So can you detail how to do this? On the woocommerce product page should I uncheck the ‘connect product to paypal’ box, save the product, remove the free trial, then reconnect?

    Hi @paddletroke

You’re on the right track. To modify the subscription plan, follow these steps:

    1. First, check the “Connect Product to PayPal Subscriptions Plan” box and update the product.
    2. After updating, you should see a button labeled “Unlink PayPal Subscription Plan”—click it.
    3. This will unlink the product from the current PayPal subscription plan.
    4. Once unlinked, you can make the necessary changes for the product.
    5. After updating the details, you can create and link a new PayPal subscription plan.

Let me know if you need any further clarification.

    Kind Regards,

    Krystian

Thanks for the detais. After doing this, my previous plan is now writen as ‘Deactivated’. Even though I have 180 active subscriptions.

What does that mean for those 180 subscriptions if the plan is deactivated? Does deactivated means that people cannot subscribe anymore. Or does that mean that people will not be able to renew this plan? ie will I loose those 180 subscribers?

    Hello @paddletroke

Could you please provide a screenshot of where you are seeing the plan marked as “Deactivated”?

Unlinking the plan from the product does not automatically disable it. The subscription plan should still remain active on PayPal’s side. In PayPal, you have the option to manually turn a plan on or off. That said, unlinking it in WC does not influence whether the plan is still active for existing subscribers.

Your active subscriptions should remain unaffected, and they should continue to renew as long as the plan is still enabled in PayPal as here.

Please check PayPal’s settings and let me know if you need any assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Hello @paddletroke

Could you please navigate to “Abbonaments” on the left side and check if the subscriptions are still active?

Let me know what you find, and we’ll take it from there.

    Hello @paddletroke

As long as subscriptions are marked as active, they should continue to renew as expected until they are either canceled manually or reach their end date.

I haven’t been able to reproduce the plan being marked as deactivated in the PayPal sandbox. However, you can try clicking on the three dots on the right side—there should be an option to reactivate the subscription plan.

    Thanks.

Can you please specify what do you mean by “they should continue to renew as expected until they are either canceled manually or reach their end date.”

Are they going to renew or not? What is reaching their end date?

    Hello @paddletroke

until they are either canceled manually

I mean that the subscriptions will continue to renew automatically unless they are manually canceled either by you or by the customer themselves (in the PayPal or WC).

     reach their end date.

Some subscriptions also have a feature that stops the renewal after a certain period. It happens if you set some period in “Stop renewing after” parameter in the product configuration.

Are they going to renew or not? What is reaching their end date?

The fact that a plan is deactivated does not affect the renewal of subscriptions. So, yes they will renew.

If you have further questions or need more details, feel free to ask.
