How to remove links from attachment images in gallery?

    When creating a gallery (no plug-in, just the original one), linking the thumbnails to the attachment-page with a larger image, WP adds a link to the next attachment-page in the gallery.
    Where can I remove that possibility?
    To be clear: I don’t want to take away the link on the gallery thumbnails, only the ones created on the large images in the attachment-pages.
