Support » Fixing WordPress » How to remove link description from title?

  • I searched this and read it means having to mess with the core files of wp. I’m ok with that except what is a little more than that.

On the homepage I call some random links from my complete list using this code <?php get_links(-1,'<li>', '</li>', '', false, 'rand', false, false, 5); ?> and want the the link description to show in the title like it should.

But on my links page where I show the whole list, I want to place the description beside the link and have “Visit ‘name of link'”. Something like this:

    <li><a href="'link URI'" title="Visit 'link name'">'Link name'</a> - 'link description'</li>

Is it possible to do this by changing some parameters or something? Thank you.

  • Ok, I tried this and it seems to be working the way I want (no descriptions on homepage, descriptions on links page) except that the description still shows in the title of the links on the links page where I want it to be View 'link name'

Also I can’t get the Between Link and Description: to be - , no matter what I do it’s always <br />. What’s the point of having it as an option if it doesn’t take the input? How can I fix that? Thank you.

^ bump, is one week safe enough to bump a thread?

Well like I said above I’ve gotten half of what I wanted. But I still can’t get - between the link and it’s description. It’s always <br />. I just want them to be on the same line with - inbetween.

Then if possible on the links page, I’d like Visit ‘name of link’ in the title.
