how to remove comment irreversibly?

  • hi, my client’s website got hacked. it wasn’t a sophisticated hack but they were able to flood us with spam comment at an incredible rate. I disallowed comment from settings and I went to comments.php and I commented out ‘<?php if ( have_comments() ) : ?>…’ but still after a while the spam comments kept coming back. my question is: is there at function level some lines of code that if we remove them, planting comments on our website will be absolutely impossible? thank you for your assistance.

  • Hi, apologies this is not an answer i’m new to the site. I have the same problem. In the dashboard the site is showing as having 2000+ comments. You can see the most recent ones in a box in the dashboard and they’re all from china with outbound links on them. Yet in the preview after you update I see no comments boxes at all. I’m unsure how to get rid of these comments. I’m not a fan of comments art all is there a setting when your in pages to just disable the comments totally? I hope its not affecting google rankings with all these rubbish links on it. My site is CIS Consultants
