I’ve kept w3Total cache deactivated for more than a month after my WP site started showing following error message.

The directory w3tc can be deleted. /home/content/xx/xxxxxx/html/mydomain.com/wp-content: w3tc. However, do not remove the w3tc-config directory.

Now, I wish to reactivate the plugin, however something seems to have messed up badly. Can you kindly tell me how can I safely remove/delete the plugin completely and then do a fresh reinstall?

    Thank you very much

Use FTP or hosting File Manager to delete the following Directories
    /wp-content/w3tc
    /wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache

As well as the following FILES

    /wp-content/advanced-cache.php
    /wp-content/object-cache.php
    /wp-content/w3-total-cache-config.php
    /wp-content/db.php

If you can’t delete directories/folders you may have to ch_mod (change permissions) to 755 if something else is set

Check your .htaccess file for W3TC entries and delete them – these may vary.. Look for # BEGIN W3TC ….
and delete up to # END W3TC
WWhen you de-activated the plugin this section of .htaccess should have been removed automatically)

Backup your .htaccess first, just in case…

You should then be be able to install a fresh W3TC – post update if you have any problems, and the error message.

Thank you very much, your solution has nicely worked. Is there a guide/documentation available that tells about configuring W3TC with BuddyPress?
