While going through one of my sites, I discovered that someone has managed to get a url inserted in the code but I can’t figure out which file it’s in and where to remove it.
The site is http://tenerifeforum.org.es and the link the site was hacked with is http://quick-loans.tripod.co.uk/
I’ve gone ahead and disavowed the link in WMT and sent a report to Google with the link details and hope they get removed.
You’d think some folk have a life.:)

    Hi
I don’t know if I should call it hacked, is there another word to describe this situstion?
I have access to the site but don’t know how the link was inserted.
I take all necessary security measures and still can’t seem to figure out how this link got there.
All I’d like to do is remove the link as it shows clearly in the page source code but I can’t seem to find it in the files.
Does anyone know which file I should look in to find the url so that I can delete it?

    Thanks

Have you started going through the links posted above? There are no short-cuts and sometimes these things can be hard to find.

After digging around I’ve discovered tht all three sites on the same server at Bluehost have the same link inserted.
I’ve also discovered that the admin bat in WordPress is the likely culprit as it shows the link as being inside it and funnily, for the past month I’ve had problems with one of the sites logging me out every time I open a new page which takes up quite a bit of time when publishing many articles as everything is now done in dashboard.

Still unable to find where the links are though, vrafy buggers these people aren’t they but I suspect this link was not placed htere to gain rank, more as a way to get me penalised. The site looks like it was knocked out during lunch with no intention og content or other.

If anyone has any advice part from linking me to techie articles, please feel free to post it here as it might help someone in a similar situation.

    Thanks

That should be Admin Bar is the culprit.:)

I’ve checked the code and the link is always inserted in the exact same section.:

    <body class="home blog logged-in admin-bar no-customize-support sidebar-right"><ul style=" height:0px; overflow:hidden">
    <li><a href="http://quick-loans.tripod.co.uk">http://shortloans.tripod.co.uk</a> payday loans</li>

I’m not a coder but everything seems to point to the Admin Bar that shows when you’re logged in/out.

Does anyone know how to get access to this in the files of WordPress?
