• My site was on my Synology DS411 NAS box and I had a major failure that left me with nothing but an Amazon Glacier backup of the web folder (where all WP and DB files are located) While I’ve got a week or so before this restore completes can someone point me to a way to bring this back up. I believe that the web directory has completed being restored and I have backed that up to a usb drive and I would like to be able to get the blog up and running maybe on my pc so I can do a normal export so I can just import to the server. Baring that, point me to a guide as to how to reinstall and bring back to life on the NAS box when the restore completes using just the files and folders in the web directory, if possible.

The files are only part of what you need to restore the site. Do you have the database as well?

The database is held by your mysql server. Where do (did) you have that running? Did you ever explicitly back it up?

It was running on the nas box. All that’s backed up are the files on the box in the web folder which has sub folders for phpMyAdmin, web-images, webalizer, wordpress

Sorry, I don’t know how your NAS box runs it. You’ll need to check its documentation to find out where the database is located and whether it gets backed up. Look for a .sql file in your saved backup files.

Thanks. I did a search of the usb for *.sql and got 8 hits none of which appear to be the needed db either by name or size. I check on the Synology forums and maybe be back. It’s looking grim.
