    It should work in the html box. Are you putting in script tags? If not you should.

    Hi John, thanks for the fast response! the site is http://www.zine-e.com. I am now receiving data but when I try and link to webmaster tools, it tells me the code is in the wrong place (needs to be in the head).

    I will try and upload a file to the site for webmaster tools verification and try and relink… but I would recommend maybe having a separate box for head metadata/analytics code.

    You must be using the asynchronous tracking code .
    Your tracking code should be in the <head> section of your page.
    You must have the “edit” permission for the Analytics web property.

    That’s just a recommendation , it will work anywhere on the page. 🙂

    I’ll look into adding a specific place for it!

    OK I got them linked, we can consider this resolved… but since Google seems to be getting stricter, esp. with “universal analytics” you might want to consider moving this to the head.

    Nice plug-in, btw. I will be developing more sites as business progresses and will upgrade to pro version!
