How to Pull Messages from SWT blog to Portal?

  • I’m sending all messages created by our news desks to a Sitewide Tags blog. From there, I want the messages on the SWT blog to be read by our portal, distributed by category. Is there a way to use the tag blog’s RSS feed to grab the posts and display them on the portal?

What plugins are recommended for such a case?

  • What’s running your portal? If it’s a site on the same network, you don’t want to use RSS, it’ll crash your site to collect RSS feeds between sites on a network.

The portal and the sub-sites are on WordPress MultiSite.

Really the portal should be the SWT blog… Why isn’t it?

The portal is the tags blog. The sub-sites are the sub-blogs that feed the SWT blog. I’d have no need for an RSS feed if the tags blog didn’t keep stripping the categories off the posts it receives. Although the incoming posts are all marked as ‘uncategorised’ (‘uncategorized’ when created from the tags blog), the categories are created, but remain empty. For instance, I have 12 empty ‘river’ categories on my tags blog (portal) that were removed from incoming posts.

I’ve about given up on the MultiSite concept. There are just too many moving parts to track, dissect and correct.
