Is there no way to protect vidoes from access of (non)-members that didn’t pay for the course? In that case it is enough to simply sniff out the URL to the video-file and then it can be distributed and people can download those files directly from my page without payment and I still pay for the traffic?

If you want only the user who bought the course can see the video, You should put that video in the lessons.
Or you can try using this plugin for this case https://wordpress.org/plugins/prevent-direct-access/.

I have embedded a self-hosted video in the lesson, but users still can access the video directly but viewing the code.
Also, I tried the plugin, but when I embed the video in the lesson it gives me this error.
