Plugin will try to post to whatever URL you enter in the “Your Facebook URL” field.
The description of the field says:
Your Facebook URL:
Could be your Facebook Profile, Facebook Page, Facebook Group
I updated my previous post – no workie!
In case it’s of any relevance, the profile and the group url are almost identical.
https://www.facebook.com/word1.word2/
https://www.facebook.com/groups/word1.word2/
What exactly is not working?
Are you getting any errors?
Please check your Log/History tab and let me know if you have any errors there.
Thankfully I unearthed the old group url, the one it used to have before I gave it a slug and it works!
http://www.facebook.com/groups/123456789012345/
/edit/
I wasn’t getting any errors, SNAP was simply posting to the FB profile page instead of the FB group.
That’s when I was using the current group url, like so:
http//www.facebook.com/groups/word1.word2/
Once I entered the old style url:
Me too!
When I setup an account to post to here…
https://www.facebook.com/groups/kinokawa.aikido/
The posts show up on this page
https://www.facebook.com/Kinokawa.Aikido
Can we sort this out in SNAP?
…or @kalligator: how did you find your group’s /groups/NNN URL?
I found my group’s ID — another support thread mentioned searching for the right “group_id=” is the group page’s HTML source.
But, when I updated the SNAP account and tried to report an item, I get…
Array (
[pgID] =>
[isPosted] => 0
[pDate] => 2013-06-15 19:13:48
[Error] => [ERROR] (#200) Posts where the actor is a page cannot also include a target_id
)
thoughts?
From the author’s updated Troubleshooting FAQ:
4.12. Problem: I am trying to post to a Facebook group and I get this message.
Reported Error: (#803) Some of the aliases you requested do not exist:
(another possible error: (#200) Posts where the actor is a page cannot also include a target_id)
Solution:
It’s a known bug in Facebook API that breaks posting to groups using non-numeric names.
There is a simple workaround for it.
Please use the numeric URL of your group in the plugin settings, http://www.facebook.com/groups/{group_id}/
You can find your Group Id in your source of your Facebook Group page by searching for group_id=
You will need to Re-Authorize your account after you update the URL.
Thanks!
Works fine after I re-authorize the SNAP account after setting the URL to the group’s ID.
