Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » How to organize categories

  • Hi all
I am working on a project for a client, and I am not sure how to organize the product categories. I hope you guys can help me 🙂

    The webshop is selling very vintage clothes. They want three basic categories with some sub cats;
    Women
    -Denim
    -Sports
    -Velvet
    Men
    -Denim
    -Sports
    Brands
    -Adidas
    -Converse
    -Nike
    -Reebok
    (and so on…)

Then they want to be able to add product to categories like
    -Blouses & Tops
    -Skirts & Dresses
    -T-shirts & Polos
    -Shoes & Belts
    -Hats & Beanies

And this is where I am stuck! Do I create one set of the above categories and add products from across the other categories or do I create these categories as subcategories for each of the other subcats:?
    Women
    -Denim
    -Sports
    -Velvet
    Men
    -Denim
    -Sports

If the ladder, then I think that the selection of categories when creating new products will be a totally unstructured mess… It would leave the one creating products to choose from 5 different Blouses & Tops within both WOmens and Mens.

I really want the first solution to be possible, but I don’t know how products will be presented…

I hope you guys are able to understand my explanation and that some of you can give me some advice 🙂

    Cheers,
    Peter

  • Hi.

Brands, colors and type (sport, elegant) can be atributes.
The big category can be “women” and “men”.

    Women
    – Blouses & Tops
    – Skirts & Dresses
    -T-shirts & Polos

    Men
    – T-shirts & Polos
    – ….
